Where did we get our inspiration to create our bestseller Lucía?

They say that small details are what count, and that inspiration can be found everywhere if we know how to observe, and in Mexico, we definitely have plenty of sources of inspiration. 🤩

You’ve probably seen a thousand photos or already taken your own selfie on Sayulita's most famous street: Yes, the street full of colorful flags! 😜❤️

But have you ever wondered where this famous "papel picado" comes from? Here's the story:

Papel Picado is part of a Mexican tradition that began in the 1800s, although it was originally created in China. Mexican artisans adopted this craft and quickly turned it into a unique tradition with cheerful and Mexican touches of color. This process is intense and is still done by hand to this day!

The state of Puebla is known for having the best producers of this papel picado in the entire country. You can find a wide variety of colors and designs, made especially for each celebration, including: Day of the Dead, Weddings, Baptisms, and local festivals.

Here in Sayulita, we have our decorations all year round, so we live in a permanent party! 😎 And this year, our street sported special designs created by our Creative Director Lea, who was in charge of bringing creativity to the main street with Revolution-themed designs. How cool is that?

Continuing with interesting facts, one of our classic Bayada bags, La Lucía, is inspired by this colorful tradition.
